ARIZONA GIVES DAY 2025 GIVES HOMELESS ANIMALS A SECOND CHANCE
SEDONA—This year, Arizona Gives Day may be on April Fool’s Day April 1st, but the Humane Society of Sedona isn’t fooling around when it comes to providing crucial medical support to some of the most at-risk animals that pass through their doors.
Each year during Arizona Gives Day, the Shelter campaigns for donations to their Emergency Medical Fund. This special account is dedicated to providing the money necessary to cover healthcare expenses for emergencies and dire medical needs for hurting animals—like Cognac.
Abandoned in a box left at a local animal clinic, Cognac was in bad shape. Weakened, in extreme pain from a severe upper respiratory infection, with serious dehydration and a critically injured left eye, there was little hope for recovery.
After immediate medical treatment in the Shelter’s onsite clinic, Cognac was moved to the watchful care of an HSS Medical Foster Home. His Foster Mom stayed with him that first night, providing comfort while Cognac fought for his life.
Through his own will to live, the Foster Parents’ loving care, and the advanced medical care made possible by the Emergency Medical Fund, Cognac began to thrive. The damaged left eye was successfully removed, he’s breathing better, and his Foster Parents report Cognac is expert at running Zoomies. He’s even discovered a favorite cat pastime—sitting on the keyboard when his Foster Dad is on the computer.
Private donations that sustain the Emergency Medical Fund at the Humane Society of Sedona provide the funding necessary to save the lives of precious souls like Cognac. Each year, dozens of companion pets find new hope, healing, and best of all—new homes through the saving power of caring supporters who contribute to the EMF.
“This year our goal is to raise $10,000 for the EMF during Arizona Gives Day,” says Executive Director, Jennifer Brehler, “And, the best news is that donations will be matched—dollar for dollar—up to $10,000 through a generous sponsored match. That means your gift of any size goes twice as far to help the animals.”
HSS asks donors to be sure to indicate the gift is for the Emergency Medical Fund through Arizona Gives Day. Donations to support HSS’s Emergency Medical Fund can be made at: https://www.azgives.org/organization/Humanesocietyofsedona
