We have a lot of lovely and beautiful dogs who are being overlooked right now, and Nala is one of them!
Nala has been with us since April and it's difficult to understand why. We have featured Nala as the Red Rock News Pet of the Week and the Sedona Monthly Pet of the Month. We were truly hoping this extra exposure would help her find a home - but we're almost through the year and no one has come for her 😔
We can’t imagine a world where this incredible dog doesn’t have a home 😢 Can you picture waking up to this happy face every day?! Her happy energy and playful spirit is infectious, and we just want to find her a family.
Nala is almost two years old, and not much is known about her life before she came to HSS back in April. We do know that she is very intelligent and loves to learn! Nala is quite the character and the baby pool is one of her favorite things in this world! She’s also very fond of playing fetch and going on hikes. Nala can be selective with other dogs, but she is easily redirected.
She is treat motivated and very trainable and truly just happy to be spending time outdoors with anyone! She has the most mesmerizing eyes and the happiest smile! And don’t get us started on her cute little white sock feet. Nala is young and has a lot of energy – she needs a chance to settle into a home with a family who is willing to spend time helping her learn how to adjust to home life. We don’t believe she’s had much experience with this, but she’s come so far in the time she's spent at HSS. We know she will make a lovely addition to the right family.
Nala is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. Please call HSS (928-282-4679) between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to schedule an appointment to meet her.

Pick up a second or third tree!
The days have come and gone. The months have passed us by. The year is almost over, and Samantha is still here, and it is truly breaking our hearts 💔🥺😞
This beautiful dog is so wonderful, and we're determined to find someone who loves her as much as we do! Samantha is around 5 years old and has been at the shelter for TEN MONTHS! Despite her happy face in these photos, we fear she is starting to lose hope...and we're doing our best to stay positive.
Samantha spends day in and day out in a small room here at the shelter. She has a little window that is covered by a blanket to keep her stress level down. She peers under the little blanket and watches people walk past her door, hoping they are coming to take her outside for one of her three walks a day. She lays on the floor and listens to the hustle and bustle of shelter life all day. And she waits for someone to love her. This is just no way to live 😞 Sam has a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who do all they can to shower her in affection and get her outside multiple times a day...but that is not substitute for a home and family of her own.
Sam is a happy girl. She has a touch of arthritis and loves her short and sweet walks - no need for long outings with her. She would rather spend her active time playing fetch with tennis balls or stuffed animals. She absolutely LOVES her babies and carries them with her everywhere. She is so proud to show them off to you and it is the cutest thing ever 😍
Samantha would do best in a quiet home with no other pets - we know y'all are out there! She is such a loyal and loving companion and deserves better than what we can give her in shelter environment.

We'd like to introduce you to our little guy, Diesel! This darling boy was originally transferred to us from another rescue last January. He was saved from nasty a hoarding situation with a bunch of other small dogs, and when they arrived in our care, they were beyond scared and shut down. It took weeks and weeks of love and patience for these littles to learn to trust people again, and eventually they were all adopted. It took many months, but Diesel found his home in the summer.
While we're grateful for the time he was able to spend in a loving home, we understand that sometimes things don't work out. So this handsome boy is back in our care and is seeking his next chance at happiness!
Despite experiencing a loving home, Diesel is still a very shy and scared little dog. He would prefer a quiet home with adults only. Diesel does love the company of other dogs, and we actually think having a companion dog in his new home may help him feel safe and build the confidence he so needs.
Diesel is not quite 2 years old and weights around 18lbs. Can you help us find the perfect, patient, loving home for him? It's going to take a very special person to help Diesel find his way in this world. Where are our dog whisperers at?! Send them our way! 🙏
