HUMANE SOCIETY OF SEDONA IS HOSTING AN END OF THE YEAR ADOPTION EVENT TO ENCOURAGE VERDE VALLEY RESIDENTS TO EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF PET ADOPTION
Humane Society of Sedona Teams Up with Home 4 the Holidays to Help Find Homes for Orphan Pets
SEDONA, Arizona (December 15, 2020) –The Humane Society of Sedona (HSS) has teamed up with thousands of animal organizations from around the world to participate in the annual Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive, founded by Helen Woodward Animal Center. The campaign, which runs from Oct. 1, 2020 through Jan. 2, 2021, unites over 4,000 partner organizations, (in all 50 states and in 26 different countries) with a focused goal of placing orphaned pets into loving homes.
The Humane Society of Sedona will feature animals for adoption for the reduced cost of only $20.20 from December 18th until December 31st! All animals will have received: a medical evaluation and treatment as needed, behavioral screening, microchip with free registration, a HSS numbered tag with collar, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, a socializing program, and registration in FindingRover.com. The adopter will receive a PetSmart coupon book as well as a voucher for a free local veterinary wellness exam after adoption for their new dog or cat, and a holiday gift bag of goodies for their pet.
Appointments are required to see the animals, as limited numbers of visitors are allowed in the facility at a time, so adopters must check the Shelter’s website at https://www.humanesocietyofsedona.org/adopt/ to select the animals they wish to meet and then call (928) 282-4679 between 10:00am and 4:00pm to make an appointment.
The Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive began with a growing concern for the number of rescue facilities closing their doors during the holiday seasons. In seeking the perfect holiday gift, would-be adopters were forced to resort to pet stores or puppy mills. Additionally, pet store staffers, untrained to assess the likelihood of a successful animal/family match, contributed to an increased number of pets sent to shelters once the season was over. The Home 4 the Holidays Campaign asks rescue facilities to keep their doors open and get the word out. The program has grown into the largest pet adoption drive in the world and is credited with saving over 16 million pets across the globe since its inception in 1999.
“With millions of homeless pets in the U.S., it is important everyone get involved to help save a life this holiday season,” said Sarah Porter. “We’re proud to be a part of this amazing campaign and we are dedicated to finding loving homes for orphan pets so they can experience a happy new life.”
“The team here at the Humane Society of Sedona is specially trained and can help families choose the perfect pet for their personalities and lifestyles,” said Ms. Porter. “We can’t think of anything better than seeing these beautiful cats and dogs matched up with their ideal forever families this holiday season.”
The Humane Society of Sedona is located at 2115 Shelby Drive, Sedona 86336 and is open from 10:00am until 4:00pm daily except major holidays. About Humane Society of Sedona
The Humane Society of Sedona has been helping lost, injured, and homeless animals in the Verde Valley since 1966. Our current shelter location in West Sedona was built in 2009 and designed by the Shelter Designers of America to ensure a comfortable environment for the animals and the people who care for them. Our mission states that as a no-kill shelter, no healthy animal or animal with a treatable behavior or medical condition will ever by euthanized. With this mission in mind, we provide needed medical care to any injured or ill animal. The Shelter is a private non-profit organization supported by proceeds from our two local thrift stores, Paws West and PawPrints as well as private donations, grants, and fundraisers.
